MARTON SPORTS CONCERT.

Tho Martou Athletic Chib has been indeed fortunate in its choice of a programme for the concert to bo given in the Opera House on tho night of the-sports—l7th April—and tho music loving people of tho district are promised something good. In securing the services of such talented artists as Mr A. Jeffrey (Huuterville), Mr A. E. Bell (Palmerson), Mr G. Swan (Wanganui), Miss Cameron (Palmerston), Miss Patou (Ashhurst), the committee have displayed their usual zeal to place before the public of Marton musical items which will he treasured for a long time by all those who have the privilege of hearing them. Mr A. Jeffrey, who is only a recent arrival in the colony, lias been eulogised by the press as one of the most artistic and cultured singers heard in tho district. He possesses a very fine tenor, and will sing ‘ ‘ The Death of Nelson” (Brahms) and “Aftou Water” (Hume). Miss Cameron, of Palmerston, is also a vocalist of high merit, and her numbers include ‘‘Come Back to Erin” and ‘‘The Last Muster.” Mr Swan, the humourous reciter, has something new for a Martou audience, and there is no doubt he will he warmly welcomed. A glance at the programme as published in this issue should satisfy the most exacting patron. Everything points to a most successful concert.
