TARANAKI PETROLEUM.
Press Association. m New Plymouth, April 3. Early this morning the Birthday petroleum well was again turned on and oil came with a rush for the start, but after a few barrels had been filled, the flow ceased on aceount of the pressure of the gas. After having relieved the pout up forces somewhat the gas gave way to the flow' of oil which ran continuously all day until shut off at 3 o’clock. Larger outlet pipes have been secured and will be fixed to-morrow morning, and the well be allowed to run until all the reservoirs and 200 ‘barrels in stock have been filled. With the easing of the gas pressure a big flow is expected. Yesterday’s temporary setback has nos affected the market and shares to-day were selling at 17s 3d.
