ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.

A Maori girl named Hinekire to Kura, daughter of a Hawke’s Bay chief, was drowned in the Euamahunga River whilst bathin g opposite Papawai yesterday. Attempts were made to save her hut were unsuccessful. The body was recovered later. New PltjioutH, April 5 At the inquest on H. Obee who committed suicide by cutting his throat and shooting himself on Thursday night, the verdict was suicide while suffering from temporary insanity. Hokitika, April 4.
Mrs M. J. Hall, an old resident, formerly a well-known licensee, was found dead in bed this afternoon. April 6. The police have received advice that two men mimed Claud Webb and Alfred May were drowned yesterday afternoon when crossing the Karangarua Bar, South Westland, in Chinn’s oil launch, used in connection with the flax-milling industry, owing to the boat capsizing. The bodies have not yet been recovered. Both victims arc young men. Webb’s parents reside in Christchurch, while May is not long from England. Tits body of Claude Webb drowned at Karangarua yesterday, has been recovered. An elderly woman, Mrs Swaiue, has been missing for some days, and a young man, Henry Feouey, 33, is also missing. It is feared both have been drowned in the Hokitika River. Auckland, April 6. W. H. Walker and R. Kelly, two shunters on the Auckland railway were jammed between two trucks. Kelly was caught between two lots of moving waggons. Walker rushed to his assistance and threw Kelly outlie ground, but was himself caught, and had his ribs severely bruised. Kelly sustained only slight injury.
