The Daily Mail reports that Europeans at Naorohi have forwarded a protest on the sentences on Grogan aud others. Lord Elgin upholds the sentences on the ground that the floggings were illegal assaults. [Mr Grogan aud others flogged natives who, it was alleged, had insulted European women. ]
