FIRE BRIGADES’ DEMONSTRATION.

There wore four challenge shields competed for at the recent fire brigades competitions, three presented by Shand, Mason and Co., London, for the highest aggregate number of pointsffor the high pressure events and for manual events, and one by Speight and Go., of Dunedin, for the manual engine event for five men. The positions of the various teams in the shields competitions were as follows; Champion Challenge Shield, for highest aggregate—Timaru 30, Dunedin ity 33, Napier City 32, Christchurch City 30, Dannevirke 25, Greymouth 20, Hawera 20, Lyttelton 17, Hastings 1(3, New Plymouth 16, Mastorton Municipal 11, Grey Lynn i), Caversham 8, Gore 8, JKeofton 8, Ashburton 6, Hillside Railway 6, Spit 6, Auckland City 2, Eastown Railway S, Patea 3, Stratford 3, Geraldine 2, Hokitika 2, Waihi 2, Wanganui 2. Spoig-ht and Co’s Challenge for manual engine event for five men, the Hawera team were .the winners.
