THE IRISH PARTY.
Press Association— Copyright. London, March 20. Lord Abovcorn introduced to Mr Balfour fifty delegates representing Unionist organisations in Ireland, and urged the need to combat schemes in the direction of Home Rule. Mr Balfour ustified the Local Government Act as the outcome of sound and farsighted Unionist policy, yet information from all quarters he consulted showed that the dominant party in Ireland used it as a great electoral machine to promote , the Nationalist interest, while the community’s interests were fatally sacrificed. The inference was clear that those proving unworthy of the trust conferred upon them in small matters could not be given charge of larger. The Governmen’t policy was a deliberate, and intentional fraud upon the electorates. They aimed at certain objects, but believing the leap required was beyond tho will or strength of tho people they meant to take two steps instead of one, but' meant to get there. Their attitude to the House of Lords disclosed a criminal legislative conspiracy. They attacked the House of Lords professedly because it amended the Education Bill, which nobody wanted, but tho real attack was because it is one barrier preventing the Constitution being thrown into the crucible after every general election. He did not believe that tho electorates had changed an atom, but were as determined as ever to resist the ultimate goal so tortuously sought be Government unionists. Ho relied on the common sense and patriotism of tho nation to avert the peril. Ho know that Home Eulo meant ruin to the great commercial interest in Ulster and unmerited injury to the loyal minority throughout Ireland. It meant tho greatest blow to .the prosperity and greatness of the Empire.
