Edgar, Wanganui, accepting the position as lion, veterinary Burgeon to Association. A similar communication was received from Mr Q. E. Owen, Palmerston. A subscription list was forwarded from ■Wellington asking for donations for Seddon memorial. Quibell Bros, wrote donating a prize of a silver challenge cup, value ten guineas, for tho beat Bomney ram and progeny, the cup to bo won twico in succession or throo times at intervals. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded for same, and the letter was referred tl the sheop schedule committee.
Prom Hon. Hall-Jones, stating that representation of Association," so as to allow continuous loading of sheep trucks, J 3 receiving every consideration. Ellis Bros., Bulls, suggested tho altering of clause 29 to colt, gelding, or fllly, as the rule at present prevents certain classes coming forward. —Befcrrod to hcrso schedule committee. Mr J. G. Duncan forwarded 10 guineas übscription as life member, and accepting position as vice-president. Tho N.Z. Jersey Breeders' Association stated.that they have resolved to donate two gold medals, value .£2 2s each, for Competition at Spring Show for champion
Jersey bull and champion Jersey cow, on
condition that only animals entered or accepted for entry in the N.Z. Jersey Herd Book are eligible for medals.
The Auckland A. and P. Association wrote stating that a conference would probably be held in Wellington at an early date and that it would be necessary to appoint delegates to same and submit a list of subjects for discussion.
,! A heap of correspondence was read
between Mr S. W. Luxford and the Boyal Agricultural Association, Sydney. It appears that Mr Luxford was asked to judge cattle at their show, and his expenses amounted to over .£2O. Tho Society refused to pay, stating that it was contrary to their rules to pay judges, and all that Mr Luxford had received for his j&peiißb:! \> ; as ii complimentary ticket, i: "The Chairman stated that'it seemed to fee a peculiar state of affairs existing in Australia that they did not pay expenses, when on tho other hand, Nov/ Zealand societies had to pay judges from Australia.
"' Mr Cohen said that he did not think tha't the matter of 4-° t»"&-s considered by Sir Lusford, and ho wa3 fighting the case aa'a matter of piinciijlo. He considered that it was a matter where prestige had to be maintained. He would so further and suggest that the whole of the correspondence should ho printed, and forwarded to every A', and Association in New Zealand. " Mr Luxford explained that it was not £he actual expenses that prompted him in this action, but he desirod to prevent ppjier judges' going to Atistralia from being victimised. Another member explained that the Society had not even the decency to proTide accommodation for Sir Jjiixforcl I when he arrived there.
jJ£b Luxford created suing amusement; V>y saying that ho had received a letter of thanks from the Eoyal Society, and they. Mould be pleased if he could see fit to again visit them in a similar capacity. ~ Mr J. M. J ohnston said that it was not so serious to Mr LuxfoiJ, being a wealthy man, but if a poor man was asked to go fjver there and reccivo similar treatment b.e considered it was very serious, and it a principle which should not be practised by the Australian societies.
After a good deal of disou=3ion it was resolved :—" That the committee having read the correspondence between Mr Luxford and tho. Council of the.. Sew South Wales Eoyal Agricultural Society, desires to draw the attention of A. and P, Societies throughout Bow Zealand to tho fact that tho New South Wales Society, after asking a New Zealand judge to attend and judge cattle at their show, neglected not only to provide for his
accommodation in Sydney, but absolutely rfifused to pay any share of his travelling ixpenses; and, further, phar a copy of the correspondence be typewritten and forwarded to the Canterbury, Hav.-ke's Bay, Auckland and Otago A. and P. Assoc iasons." Mr J. M. Johnston moved : — ,? That the committee living considered the Correspondence between Mr Luxford, an p]d and piroininent member of the committee for many years, and the Royal A, and P. Association, this committee is of opinion that it is a decidedly -wrong principle to invite judges from New Zealand without intimating that the position is purely honorary and they are liable for their own expenses, especially as it is a regular custom in this colony to pay ajl judges from Australia."—Carried.
Accounts amounting to £157 were passed for payment. Several new members .were proposed,
The general committee recommended expenditure of .£27 to tar and sand poultry hall.—Adopted.

Messrs McHardy and "Wheeler were elected delegates to the Agricultural Conference in Wellington. Mr J. O. Batchelar was granted nine months' leave of absence to visit the Old Country.
Mr Cohen reported tbat he had received a letter from Messrs Walker and Hall regarding the silver challenge cup, alio a book of designs which he placed on the table. ' The matter was left to Messrs Pririgle, Cohen and tho Chairman to select a design and procure j[|Mr Wheeler gave notice of motion •(That in~view of tho very high rates How levied, tho charges for show grounds be revised."
