Messrs Freeman R. Jackson and Co. report : On Wednesday, 6th iust., wo held our usual fortnightly Wanganui sale, when we yarded slightly over 10,000 sheep, -130 head of cattle, and 75 pigs. The sheep consisted principally of aged ewes-, for which competition was slack. Good lambs and weathers sold freely. For cattle thero was a steady demand, and the bulk of the yarding was quitted. Pigs maintained their values. Messrs Abraham & Williams report : At Palinorston on Thursday wo had an. entry of 4200 sheep, consisting chiefly of aged breeding ewes. Only one line of lambs were yarded and no wethers. Competition for inferior ewes was slack and a number of lines were passed. All lots, however, with the exception of two pens were quitted privately. Bidding for sound good owes was keen and prices will maintained. A good number of cattle were submitted and most lots disposed of. A good enquiry existed for 18-months steers of good quality. Messrs Dalgetyand Co., Ltd., report on their usual weekly sale held at Palmerston N, on Thursday; —We had an entry, of 8500 sheep and 200 head of x cattle. There was a first class'demand for stock of all description. , especially ,of good sound breeding, which realised very satisfactory prices. The following is a list "of prices realised' Jr-Sheep: Medium fat lambs 7s 6d, rape lambs 9s 6d to 10s 6d, 2 tooth wethers (small) 159 8d to 16s Id, f.m. ewes 10s lOd to 13s Id, cull ewes 6, s 4 tooth Romney rams 3 to guineas, S tooth Lincoln rams 3% to 4% guineas, 2 tooth Southdown rams 1 guinea, Shropshire rams tyi gurineas. At Addingtou live stock market to-day there was a large entry of stock, and a numerous attendance. Store sheep were not so saleable, and prices hardly so firm for rough sorts. Most of tho fat lambs only brought forward store prices. Fat sheep sold up to late rates till towards the end of tho sale, when old owes were easier. Beef sold at about late rates, and pigs of all classes were i easier. There was a poor sale for store cattle, but good dairy cows were in demand" There was a largo mixed yarding of store sheep, and there was a large number of buyers present. Bidding was rather slow, and good lines sold up to late rates, while rough sorts wore somewhat neglected. Lambs were not selling unite so well as during the last week or two. The entry of fat lambs was larger than for several weeks, and there was a fair proportion of prime lots. Graziers wore the principal buvors, and most of the sales were made at much below freezers' values. , Prime lambs made Ms Gd to 17s 6d, medium 12s to 14s, and lighter 9s to lis Gd'. There was. a fairly large mixed yarding of fat sheep, including a "fair proportion of wethers. There was practically no change in values until towards teh end of the sale, when butchers' requirements wero pretty well satisfied. The range of prices was—Prime wethers 19s 7d to 225, others 15s Id to 18s 3d, prime ewes ;iss -to 19s (id, medium 12s Gd to 14s 6d, aged 9s to 12s. R The entry of fat cattle totalled 242, a large proprtion being more or less rough sorts. A few extra prime lot sold at an advance, but ordinary beef sold at about lato rates. Steers brought £5 17s Gd to £9, heifers £5 2s Cxi to £0 os, cows £4 7s Gd to £7 7s Gd (equal to 22s Gd for a few extra prime, and 22s to 23s Gd for medium down to 19s to 21s per 1001 b). Veal calves made 4s to £2 os, according to size and quality. Only a few odd lots of store cattle were yarded. Good dairy cows wore in demand, and sold up to £S 10s. There was a very largo entry ol pigs, bacouers being hardly Iso firm, and porkers and stores 'much easier. Bacouers made 40s to 45s for light, and 47s to 53s for heavy (equal to 4d to 4 l-2d per lb), porkers 30s to 35s (equal to 4 l-2d to 4 3-4 d), large and forward stores 20s to 355, medium 12s to ISs, and weauers 5s Gd to lis.
