THE BESSES 0' TH' BARN BAND.

Two Concerts in Marton. Fresh from el'owning triumphs at tho Ch'ristchnrch Exhibition and the southern centres, the long-loOked for Royal Besses o' th' Barn Band is to delight local audiences with two of its World-famous performances on Wednesday afternoon next at the Park and in the evening at the Town Hall. Tho box plan for the evening concert, as well as all priced tickets for both performances, are at Mogridge's. This arrangement will permit of many hearing the Besses who might otherwise bo disappointed and the fond hopes of music-lovers will be pleasurably realised in hearing what is universally designated as tho world's ohammon band. The Besses o' th' Barn Band, by their brilliant attainments, have for over a century added materially to the musical history of Great Britain. For the past 35 years, the Besses have experienced an' uninterrupted succession of triumphs under the masterly control of that celebrated conductor and composer, Mr Alex. Owen, who accompanies them on the present Australasian tour. Mr Owen, by virtue of his genius as a band technician, has won endless fame in. the musical world, and wears many insignias and decorations personally bestowed upon him by the bauds of royalty. _ The Besses' artistic treatment of the world's best music, the standard of which is never found in the repertoire of the average baud, has classed tlieni as a concert baud. "The Ride of the Valkyries" for example is one of their approved selections, and the intricate weavings of the "Tannhauscr " overture presents no difficulties to these masters of horn, cornet, trombone and euphonium. The visit of this famous band will surely prove of great vMue to local bandsmen.
