Extraordinary revelations have been made in the Reichstag as to the extent of wine adulteration in Germany. One merchant who has been convicted purchased in seven yenrs 34001b5. of glycerine, 12,0001b5. of tartaric acid, IGOOIbs. of potash, and IlOOlbs. of citric acid. A merchant named Kerr was sentenced at Neustadt to two months’ imprisonment, besides a fine, for selling during twelve months 55,000 gallons of wine not containing a trace of grape juice.
