Rescued by the Turakina. Press A t sociation. Wellington, March 9. The Turakina, which arrived at Hobart yesterday, had on board the castaways from the Crozets. [The ship Catherine went to pieces in a hurricane, and tho crew landed on the Crozets. The captain and two men who left the island in a boat were picked up by a German steamer and landed at Melbourne on February 11th. Eleven men were left on the island, and must have suffered great privations.] Hobart, March 9. Seven of the Catherine’s men ship as crew on a Norwegian barque now loading at Southport. The remainder will g to Melbourne

When the, Turakina touched at the island, eh route from Capetown, the men were found in a bad of health owing to their'having lived on the eggs of penguins and albatrosses, sea elephants and the food placed on the island'27,’years ago by the British Government. The latter, of course, was not very wholesome, but they had to use it. A bottle of whisky washed ashore washed ashore was kepffor Christmas Day: When they arrived at Hobart they were provided with clothing and necessary comforts.
