THE BESSES 0’ TH’ BARN BAND.
Two Concerts in Marton
The announcement made in our I amusement column that Messrs J. and N. Taithave decided that two concerts Will be given in Marton by the famous Royal Besses o’ th’ Barn Band on March 20th will he received on all sides with the greatest satisfaction. The director of the Besses inspected the Park yesterday, and with the permission of his Worship the Mayor decided upon arranging an open air performance there on Wednesday afternoon, the 20th instant, when a minimum charge of 2s will be maae for admission ; Is extra willl he charged for the seating enclosure. A special band stand will be constructed, and, given fine weather, a record attendance should result to hear this famous band, whose performances in the South Island have created _ such universal admiration. To exhibit the fine solo work by the leading players of the Besses an evening performance will be given in the Town Hall, when ic is anticipated that the capacity of the hall will be taxed to its utmost by residents of this and surrounding districts. Arrangements are being made with the Railway Department to rim excursion rates, and also to detain the Htinterville train on the evening of the 20th until 11 p'.m. Ground and reserve tickets for the afternoon performance are now on sale at Mogridge's, where the bos plan is on view. Marton is singularly fortunate in having the Besses Band so early in their tour, as the much larger centres must necessarily be passed in the effort to reach Auckland for Easter.
