The Associated Chambers of Commerce have urged the Government to so conduct the negotiations at the Colonial Conference that reciprocal trading may be promoted within the Empire. The mover of the resolution, Mr Reacle, of the Belfast Chamber of Commerce, maintained that the colonics wished for preference, and, if refused, Canada particularly, would seek it elsewhere, thus leading to the dim u Gyration of the Empire, There were only a dozen dissentients to this view.
The meeting also, 'by 40 to 38, adopted a resolution urging the Government to make the metric system compulsory.
