Hours of Labour. London, March 7. Mr "W. Harvey’s motion condemning the excessive hours worked by railway servants was agreed to in the House of Commons Mr Lloyd George, President of the Board of Trade, warned the railway companies that if they .wished to avoid drastic legislation they must within a year themselves find a remedy regarding railway charges and facilities besides reducing the hours of labour. Small Holdings. London, March 7. In the House of Commons Mr Jesse Ceilings’ Bill to promote peasant proprietorship has been read a first time. A New Appointment. London, March 7. Mr J. H. "Whitley has been appointed Junior Lord of the Treasury in succession to Mr W. Euncirnan. Mr Whitley has been re-elected for Halifax unopposed.
