A DESTRUCTIVE FIRE.

Received Marcli 7, 11.16 p.m. ■ Melbourne, March 7. A firo at Elsmernwick destroyed the whole stock of oars, seventeen in number, ot tho St Kilda and West Brighton Electric Tramway with tho result that business on the line will have to bo suspended till new cars are built. The cause of the firo is a mystery, as the electric current was out off at tho time of tho outbreak. The fire started in the manager’s office. The damage is roughly estimated at •£15,000.
