TE RANGITUNAU SALE.

Barton, of Mataikoua, •were purchasers, v 8 w D 9 Been from the sale list, these buyers invested in the aggregate a very largo amount of money. Mr D. P. Buchanan gave 31%gns for the appropriately-named beast Lady Graceful 10th and her heifer calf, and 25 guineas for Te Hiwi I Amethyst 69th, and the same amount for Amethyst 269th, the latter another pretty and valuable animal. For Te Hiwi Princess and calf he% gave 30 guineas and Te Hiwi Amethyst 69th 25 guineas. This buyer paid the highest average price for the day. Mr A. J. Toxward, of Palmerston North, was a heavy buyer, including hi liis purchase the bull Cowboy at , 18 guineas. ' Mr E. Sliort was probably the most determined buyer at the sale, and other purchasers seemed almost to recognise the futility of competing with him. His selections ranged in price from 27 guineas for Amethyst 260th and calf to 4 guineas. Other prices paid by him were 21 guineas for Te Hiwi Amethyst 35th and calf, and 15 guineas for a calf by Te Hiwi Amethyst 6th, the last-mentioned being one of the finest calves offered.
