(From Our Own Correspondent.) A meeting of the Farmers’ Union was held on Saturday. The President (Mr F. S. Guy) occupied the chair. It was decided .to hold a combined picnic with the Kim'bolton branch and schools of the district at an early date. Various opinions were given regarding the .rabbit pest, and it was resolved to take the necessary precautions to check its advance. The Executive Committed of the Horticultural and Industrial Society met last week. Steps were taken to revise the schedule, and the secretary was instructed to obtain particulars regarding advertisements, marquee, etc. The show will be held on May 24-th. Subscriptions in connection with the new public hall are coming in very slowly. Recent events, however, may be the means of putting new life into the movement. Metalling contracts in the township are being steadily proceeded with, whilst the much desired footpaths are kept in abeyance.
