High Commissioner’s Report. Per Press Association. Wklltxgton, March 4. The Department of Industries and Commerce has received the following cablegram from the High Commissioner, dated London, 2nd inst The mutton market is weak as tho result of heavy arrivals aud poor demand. Canterbury brands 4J£cl, North Island -id, River Plato 3;>o(l. Tho .lamb market is dull aud supply exceeds demand. Canterbury sam and other than Canterbury sd. There is better demand for beef at Z%d and 2%d for hind and forequarter respectively’. There is a better demand for butter and tbe market is steady, present supplies, however, exceed requirements. Following are current quotations—Choice N.Z. 90s, Argentine 90s, Australian 91 . Danish 113 s per cwt. , , , . The Now Zealand cheese market is ■quiet but firm at fi«s per cwt.. The hemp market is quiet but steady. Good fair grade on spot is JBB9 and fair current Manilla ou spot J-40 per ton. There is better dciiinua fox* cocjlsfoot seed at 48s per cwt for clean bright dressed seed;l7lbs to bushel. ~ The wool market is jjaetive with good demand.

Messrs A, JL Atkinson and Co. report; —At our Feildiug sale on Friday there were heavy entries in all departments. A fair entry of useful classes of light horses sold well, there being a better demand than we have experienced for some time. About 130 pigs were yarded, comprising mostly v/eiinsrs and Hglit stores. Local and outside buyers wesxmii attendance in good numbers. Except for best classes, weaner.s and slips uero easier, but good stores and porkers were in strong demand, and prices wore v.ell maintained. A good entry of poultry sold at improved rare?. Produce entries were exceptionally heavy. Over 300 cases of fruit and tomatoes came in, tomatoes being in exceptionally heavy supply, heavy outside consignments coming in. Trices were consequently easier, rotatoes were at Last week’s rates. Quotations :—Horses, etc.: Light harness horses .£6 to £lO, pony mare £lO, hacks £2 to £7,18-months filly M 10:. buggy £9 2s fid. Stock Report
Dalgety & Company, Ltd., held their •weekly sale at Feildiug .on _ Friday last. There was a good yarding .w .sheep and a -fair entry of cattle. A line ol 2-th ewes Flock Book Romneys realised £2 XOs.and a line of 6-tooths £1 0s 4d. These sheep wore sold on account of L. H. McHardy, Esq., who also obtained tho satisfactory figure of IGs 3d for his o-year-old ewes. Bidding was keen aud most of tho lines were sold under the hammer. Quotations 2i-yr steers £3 0s 6d, yearling steers £2 ss, 2-th Romney ewes £2 10s, 6-th ewes £1 0s 4d, 5-year ewes 16s 3d, 4 and 5-year ewes 14s, aged cvres 10s, cull 2-th Lincoln rams 2lgns.

Limited, report as follows We offered end sold on Friday a fairly large catalogue of wool (mostly bag Jots), sheepskins, hides, tallow, horns, hair, ..etc. Buyers were numerous and the demand. >od. Wool, skins and tallow sold well at, late rates. Bidding for hides was rather irregular, whilst calfskins in sound • condition showed a slight advance.
