Two Days On a Raft,

The ship Barcore, from. Puget Sound, reports picking tip in latitude 47 north, longitude. 138 west tho crew of the American slap Great Admiral. A heavy gale was Tio-inC when a mass of wreckage was sigiitsfl, consisting, of the top of tl*e"after house of the Great Admiral/ and on it 16 men and one woman in a ' p«ous position. The ship was brought as near was prudent, and with the aid of lai«e quantities of oil a boat succeeded in reaching the wreckage, and ft; tor ■many attempts got all the survivors ou hoard the Barcore. These included the master, the mate, the nmters wife, aud 1% .Gaameu. pie cook aud steward succumbed during the first night on the raft, ihe peonle wore in a pitiable condition, having spent two nights and part of two days clinging to the top oi the house ‘without food, water, or shelter. If it had not been lor the wreckage acting as a broakwatci they would have perished, as the terrific sea must have washed them off.

During a south-cost gale the Great Admiral, laden with timber, found that she was making water (fast and was thrown ou her beam ends. The captain ordered the masts to be cut away. The crow .then crawled on the top of the afrerhouso, when the mizzen mast snapped about Bft. above the house a ul a tremendous wave swept the v cssol aud carried off tho top part of the house with tho crew on it into iLe sea. Ou tho morning of Decem-b-n’ 24 the Barque Andrew, from the Sandwich Islands to San Francisco, hove in sight, aud tho shipwreeqed people wore transferred 19 her and landed at Ban Francisco. The Groat Admiral was owned aud commanded by Captain Sterling, who valued tho vessel at £25,000, ana it was uninsured.
