Stock Report.
Messrs Dalgetyand Co., Ltd., held their weekly sale at Palmerston North on Thursday, February 28, when a good yarding of sheep was offered, also a few cattle. Bidding was slack all round, and most of the lines were passed in. Wo, however, made a clearance after the sale of all Tmt one lino of aged ewes. We quote —Fat ewes 13 9d, 3 tooth ewes Ms, S tooth wethers 13s fid, store lambs 8s fid, cull lambs (Is, 2% and 3 year steers £4 2s. The Now Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report as .follows:—At Palmerston North on Thursday we had an average entry of sheep and cattle. There was not quite such a good demand for cattle tm existed last week, but most lines
•were quitted. All the sheep were Isold at satisfactory prices. Wo quote Sheep: Full mouth ewes 12s to 13s, 2 tooth ewes Isa 9d, forward Jambs 10s 6d, rams 4 to 4%gns. Cattle: Weaners 6« Cd to 10s, fat heifers £3 12s 6d,' 18 months steers £2 6s, 2% year steers £!i 4s to £3 11s ISd, 3d, 3 year steers £3 19s to £4 J.7s 6d. Old sheep, •which wore mostly or rather below the average quality, were difficult to sell, veudors having to modify their reserves considerably to admit of business being done. Oattlb were dull of sale. Full mouth ewes 8s lOd to 10s, 2 tooth wethers 15s to 15s 3d, aged ‘ewerSs 8d to 6s 3d, 3,4, G, and'f. in. owffs 14s 3d, -1 and G ' tooth ewes 163 4d, fqnvanl ewes Us Bd, mixed lambs 8s 6d to 8s 9s, wether lambs 9s 3d-, small lambs 6s Id. Cattle : Woauers 7s to 155,yearlings 15s, ISmouths steers 87s od, 3 year steers - £2 Is, year steers £3 10s, 3 year empty heifers £3 6s, fat cows £3 to £3 7s Cd. Kimbolton: 1300 sheep and 100 head of cattle came forward, and wo had a most satisfactory sale, effecting ah absolute clearance of sheep, also quitting practically all of the cattle yarded. Two tooth ewes 14s lid to 15s Od, f.f.m e.Wes Us Id to 12s 3d, 4 and 5 year ewes 13s 2d to 13s 9d, forward ewes Us 3d, mixed lambs 7s to 10a, cull lambs 4s, milch cows to £4, Woauers IGs to 31s, yearlings 958 Cd, mother fed Jweaners 20s, heifers in calf £3 5s to £3 17s <3d. Feildiug: Wo had a small entry of sheep and an average yarding of cattle. Sheep sold well and all lines were quitted at fall values. Cattle wore not in strong demand, but most lines wore quitted. Two tooth owes 16s Id to IGs 3d, sound mouthed breeding - ewes 14s 5d to 15s Sd. cull ewes 7s. Cattle : Woauers 10s to 13s (kl, yearlings 17s 6d, store cows 265, 3 year steers £3 -Bs, forward buliocks £5 7s 6d, bulls 80s to 355.
Messrs Gorton and Son report;—Wo had a large yarding of both sheep and c-attle at Feilding sale and have to report a total clearance under the hafmner of all sheep and all but a few head of cattle. We quote: Fat lambs 12s Id, woolly owe lambs 12s 3d, good rano lambs 10s 9d to 11s, small lambs 7s Gd to 7s Bd, forward 2tooth wethers 13s 7d, small 2-th owes 15c 7d to ISs 7d, 2-th tof.m. Lincoln owes ISs lid to 15s, f.f.m. Lincoln ewes 13s 2d to 14s 7d, 4 and 6-th ewes 20s 2d, f.m. Lincoln ewes 12s 7d to 13s 4d, older sorts 11s Id to 11s Od, culled owes 5s Gd to 11s, fat ewes 12s lOd. Cattle': Fat bullocks £7 ss, yearling heifers 15s to 20s, forward cows £2 2s to £3 9a, store .cows £2 2s 6d to £2 Gs, old cows £1 to £1 4s, weaners 8s to 9s, 18-months steers £2 17t, yearling steers £1 6s 6d.
Grain and Seed
Messrs Kaye & Carter, Christchurch report under date February 28th: — Wheat : Milling Tuscan 3s 3Ad to 3s 4d, Pearl 3s 3sd to 3s -Id, Hunters’ 3s 2id to 3s 3d, fowl 3s Id to 3s 2Jd, L.0.b.5.0., Lyttelton. Milling wheat market still rules firm, all lots offered being readily bought up by millers and merchants. Fowl wheat is scarce and in good demand.
Oats : A Garton 2s 9d to 2s 9Jd, B 2s to 2s 9d, Sparrowbills 2s Bid to 2s Did, Danish 2s 7-1 A to 2s Bid, Duns 2s 9d to 2s 94d, f.0.b.5.i., Lyttelton. Very scarce and in great demand. Potatoes. —Table £5 10s, f.o.b.s.i. Market well supplied.
