THE ARBITRATION ACT.

Speaking to-day at the luncheon given by the proprietors of the Lyttlcton Times and Press to the members of the Newspaper .Proprietors Association; at present in Christchurch, tho Hon. AA r . Hall-Jones, Acting - Premier, said the Arbitration Act had not failed. Tho Act was as strong as the Government could wish it to be. The only thing tliat had failed had been that those who should have taken advantage of tho provisions of tho Act had not done so. The Government realised their responsibility in the present position of affairs. They realised that tho law in all its integrity must be sustained, and those powers which existed for the enforcement of the law must bo on voiced.
