HUNTERVILLE MOUNTED RIFLES.
On Saturday last the Huntorvillo Mounted Rifles completed their annual training in camp which, this voar, extended over eleven days. For the seventh year in succession the camp was hold on Mr J. W. Marshall’s property, Tututotara, an ideal camping ground for mounted troops. In addition to the Huntervillc squadron who mustered 44 strong, 10 men from the Feilding Mounted Rifles and four from the Stratford Mounted Rifles took part in the training, Captain Meldrum was in command, assisted by Lieutenants Ashworth and W. Howie and regimental Staff-Sergeant-Major 'Dovoy. In spite of ti 10 weather which, was the worst yet experienced by the corps a fairly heavy programme of work was got through. On the 19th instant the oflicor commanding the district, Lieut.-Colonel Bauchopo, inspected the camn and tested the capacity of both officers and men in some highly interesting field work. In his subsequent criticisms Liout.-Colonel Bauchop expressed his satisfaction with the efficiency of the corps.
