FIRE AT MANAKAU.

At 5.40 yesterday evening a fire broke out in a grocery shop at Manakau, occupied by Mr Mantan. Owing to the lack of appliances for fighting the flames, they rapidly assumed the, mastery, and spread to Mr Leonard's saddler’s shop adjoining and to a coach builder and blacksmith’s shop occupied by Messrs Swainson and Bevan all of which were completely destroyed. So quickly did the fire envelop the buildings that scarcely anything could be salvaged. Particulars regarding insurances are not to hand.
