Exciting ContestsPress Association —Copyirght. Pretoria, February 21. The elections in the Transvaal are being fought with great spirit. The results, which are incomplete, indicate that the Progressives will form a strong and compact minority. Sir Percy Fitzpatrick has been elected, polling 491 against. 364 polled by Sir Richard Solomon, and 170 by Burke, Independent candidate. Sir Percy Fitzpatrick received a great ovation at Pretoria. The excitement is indescribable. I Racial feeling is running strong as the returns are received. Twenty thousand are assembled in Market Square at J oliannesburg. London, February 21. Reuter’s,Agency reports that IS Progressives have been elected. Those include Sir Wools Sampson, Sir George Farrar, Abe Bailey, Yan Halsteyn. Sixteen Hetvolkites have boon returned, including those returned unopposed. These include Smuts, Dr. Krause, and Messrs Risaik, Rooth, Langerman, Advocate De Yfillers. Six Nationalists include Sir Richard Solomons and his brother Edward. Three Labourites have been elected. Capetown, February 21. At tho Transvaal elections the Nationalists elected Include W. Wyeburgh and H. G. Hull, former members for Sheffield. An Independent won the Japertown seat, defeating Cresswell, Nationalist.
