THE BUTTER BILL.

A Butter Bill lias been introduced into the Imperial Parliament. It provides for thc'-registration and inspection of factories where butter is blended, reworked or butter substitutes are made. It enipowers tiie Board of Agriculture authorities to enter unregistered premises if in their belief inspection is desirable. It limits the amount of moisture to 16 per cent, in butter and margorine whether homo nmde or imported, aud 24 por cent, in butter substitutes. The latter must be delivered to hhe purchaser in n wrapper bearing a printed description of the article. The penalty for the first offence under th.fi Act is a fine of £2O; for the second a fine not exceeding £SO, and for the third and subsequent offences fines not exceeding £IOO, with imprisonment in cases which come within the scopo of tho Food and Drugs Act.
