XL® fortnightly meeting was held last night. Present —The Mayor (Mr Trewin). Crs. P. Thompson, Harford, West, Butne, and Williamson. The Engineer reported among other things that it would bo necessary to replace tho culvert across Kimbolton road h 7 Wald street, tho cleaning out 0 L the creeks and water courses in the row.! to ensure proper drainage, and, if u: r.ahsiou can bo obtained from landr.v-;.-;?, to have some of the waterstraightened. Ho pointed out that this section was only a leasehold from the Government, an t anv building erected thereon had to be removed at termination of lease. —Application was granted, provided a building approved of by Council was erected. It v. as resolved that the* request of ' r Gosling be referred to the Works nnmittee to report on, and that of Messrs Bartholomew Bros, he attended by the Engineer. That a culvert be put in to connect wal;:.ecurso through McKenzie’s garde; a: 0:1 Kimbolton road with the watercourse below the mill. Tha matter io be attended to at once. That fids Council desires to pass a vote of thanks to tho Colonists’ Land and Loan Corporation in recognition of its lii'nuroijs action iu removing restriction-; from Uie land upon which tho Municipal buildings are erected. That the action of the Engineer in refusing Mr TV. A. That the MG.r.chostsr Rifles be written to, asking what additions they intend making to tho Drill Hall.
