THE CONFIDENCE TRICK.
Press Association. Wellington, February 20. At the Magistrate’s Court to-day further evidence was taken in the case in which Thos. Wallace, alias Williams, and John Baxter were charged with conspiring with others to defraud James Chapman, a new arrival, of £9O by a confidence trick. Baxter pleaded guilty, and was remanded to the Supreme Court for sentence. Wallace was committed for trial.
