K. Atkinson (Welling ton) 5 corresponding secretary, Mrs Dohr- ' mann, M.A. (Waimate); assistant corresponding secretary. Miss Webb (Ormondville); recording secretary, Miss powell (Wanganui) j treasurer, Miss McCarthy (Waibao Downs). Misses L. M. Smith and Jessie McKay were reappointed editors of tbe White Ribbon, and Mrs Spencer as business manager, all being heartily thanked for past services. Superintendents of departments were appointed as follows Evangelistic, Mrs Kirkland, Dunedin ; home meetings, Miss jloody Bell, Dunedin ; purity, Mrs Webb, Ormondville; educational meetings, Miss Powell, Wanganui; Sabbath observance, Mrs W. Dili, Wiilowby ; work among young people, Mrs Spence, Auckland ; medal contests, Mrs Evans, Napier; scientific temperance instruction, Miss Mauncter, Haw-era ; uufnrmcntcd' w-ine, Mrs Gasken, Greymouth ; press, Mrs Mitchell, Invercargill ; mothers’ meetings, Mrs Kirkland, Dunedin; Bible in schools, Mrs Dewar, Ponsonby ; narcotics, Miss Webb, Ormondville; work among seamen, Mrs Whitby, Lyttelton ; perce and arbitration, Mrs E. C. SomerVills, Onebunga; literature, Mrs Hughes, Auckland ; anti-gambling, Mrs Macalister, Wellington; legal and Parliamentary, Mrs Sheppard, Christchurch. Desolations were passed expressing satisfaction at Dr. Pomaro’s refutation cf tho statement that he applied for permission for alcoholic liquor to ho used at tho tangi of Tohu; thanking tho Hon. Jas. Carroll for his reply on that occasion ; calling the attention of the Minister of Justice to the lax administration of the law in no-liconso ; expressing appreciation of, and sympathy with, the efforts of tho women suffragettes of Great Britain in their efforts to obtain tho freedom and rights which tho women of New Zealand possess; and protesting against Sir Joseph Ward’s proposal that profits obtained* by the totalisator he applied to benevolent purposes. Invitations were received to bold the convention or 1903 in Auckland, Kaiapoi, Invercargill, and Wellington, and tbe first was accepted.
