COLONIAL CONFERENCE.

Sir Wilfred Laurier, in the Dominion House of Commons, said Government still adhered to the view that the creation of an Imperial Council would serve no good purpose, j London, February 19. The Hon. Alfred Lyttelton, interviewed, supported the suggestion of Mr Reeves regarding an Imperial Council, and emphasised his own despatch of 20th April, 1906. Conferences, he said, should not bo overwhelmed with a mass of undigested subjects. A purely advisory commission might investigate and condense for discussion from time to time for the Conference the weighty subjects which were continually arising. In the House of Commons Mr Churchill said that the colonial Premiers will be treated as guests of the nation.
