Mes e rs Dalgety & Co., in conjunction with Gorton & Son, held a clearing sale in Feildmg on account of Mr L. bhort, who has sold part of one of his properties, also on account of the same vendor his annual sale of surplus stock from all his flocks and herds. It was a fine yarding of sheep and cattle, being a record for Feildmg on account of one man. The quality was good m sheep, especially ewes, the demand for which was very disappointing considering the ( quality of the stock offered. The j cattle were also good, the Ilcrefords being a very fine lot right through. Prices realised for these were also not | np to expectation. One line of 1800 good Lincoln ewes bred by Mr Pharazyn did not come > forward in time, and will be offered next week, and another line of 800 bred by Mr J. E. Gear, of To Horo, also failed to come forward, and these we ' have for private sale. There was a lai-trc attendance and competition in J most cases was good, especially for any straight lines of young ewes, the highest price for 4 tooth ewes being 18s fid, - , tooths 17s fid. Aged ewes did not reach the prices in some cases expected > by vendors, but on the whole we had a successful sale, and sold over 13,000 sh“ep 10,000 ot which were sold under the hammer.
