MR W. F. McBETH’S SALE.
There were a large n umber of buyers yesterday at the clearing sale held by the Loan and Mercantile Company for Mr ■■ W. F. Moßetli, of Kiwitea. The sheep/ sold well, particularly those bred by Mr ’ W. Jacob, the cattle fairly well, but the competition was not keen for the blood stock. Handsome Jack, a mare and two young borses were passed in. The highest prices were given by Mr David Beard, of Wangaohu, who paid COgns for a mare with foal at foot to Handsome Jack, and Mr A. Davidson, who paid 50gns for the brood mare Steadfast. A young mare by Handsome Jack out of Flemington, was sold for .£25, but she was not perfect in limb. A Handsome Jack yearling brought 30gns and a brown filly 3.|gns. Other sales were a 4-year-old mare .£2O, a yearling gelding £l7los, a t-wo-year-old filly £lO, and a brood mare by Ascott with foal £lO. A team of draughts, aged, brought £27 10s, £l6 10s and £l9 10s respectively. A quiet pony brought £S. Unbroken saddle borses (strong) brought from £lllos to £ls 10s.
Sheep: Woolly Homney lambs 17s, forward wethers 14s lOd and 14s 9d, pare bred ram iambs 30s, 28s 6d and 28s; pure bred Eomnoy ewes, 4-tooth, six and full mouth 19s to 21s, 2-tooths 15a Id and 16s, Lincoln ewes 2-tooth and up to fresh full mouth 18s 6d, crossbred mixed woolly lambs 12s 3d, Cattle : Cows sold at £4, heifers from £3 17s 6d to £3 17s 6d, steers at £4 19s, young heifers about 18 months 21s Gd, mixed cattle 2-year-olda 88s 6d. . The bidding for the household effects was good.
