Strong Condemnation From The Minister.

The slaughtermen’s strike continues. Tho men say they are not prepared tor make any overtures, and that there can be no half-way house. Mr Millar,Minister of Labour interviewed on tho' subject, said the Department had endeavoured to point out to tho men the folly of their conduct. The law must bo observed, and the law made a specific provision for preventing anything of the kind that had taken place. Blame in this case appeared to rest entirely' with the men, and he was going to tako the advice of the Crown Latv Officials with a view to bringing the matter before tho Court, which will be sitting in Wellington within a week or ten days. Both the Union and tho individual members of tho Union will ho included in ruy proceedings taken. The reports of officers of tho Labour Department showed that a large number of Australians arc ineluded in the strike, and they openly avowed that they did the same in Melbourne and got an increase of 5s a hundred. This might be justified in Australia, but when they came to SeW Zealand they must observe the law.
