QUEENSLAND POLITICS.
Tlie Ministerial ProgrammePress Association.— Copyright. BKisnANE, February ZO. Mr Kidstou, Queensland Premier, delivered a, policy speech at Rockham. Referring to Mr Denham’s resignation lie said that on his return from New Zealand ho found 31r Donham’s idea of the political situation was that tho Government should coalesce with the Philp party. That proposal, if agreed to, would mean that, while lie would ho graciously permitted to remain Premier, ho would have had to remove from the Cabinet three or four Ministers who have been perfectly loyal. It would mean the betrayal by Government of a large number of men who had supported them in tho last Parliament. He had therefore informed Mr Denham that he could not seriously entertain the proposal. 3lr Kidstoii, continuing, said Government proposed to exempt incomes up to £2OO from taxation. Ho also meant to make available land under a compulsory purchase Act wherever suitable land was found adjacent to railways. Ho would initiate a bold and liberal immigration scheme and would endeavour to arrange for passages for immigrants at from .£3 to £.~> a head in order to compete with Canada. The Government was also considering offering those who pay their own passages a, free grant of ]GO acres of laud. Steps would also bn taken to coordinate the savings bank with the agricultural bank.
