CONGREGATIONAL UNION.
Press Association. Dunedix, February S. The meetings of the Council of the Congregational Union of New Zealand wore resumed to-day. In the morning interesting addresses were given by the Pev. 1). Ilird and the Rev. W. B. McLaren, of London. In the afternoon the report of the Pastor's Provident Fund Board was considered. The fund showed a credit of £2437 10s 3d, an increase of £2OO on the previous year. A motion providing that such churches as from and after 1907 contribubuted annually to the fund , a sum equal to 2J per cent of the stipends paid by them to their ministers, should.be entitled to join the fund on paying half the contribution stipulated for in the schedule to the constitution of thefund was not considered, and was remitted ty the Finance Committee for report at p. future stage. Motions in favor of appointment of moderators for vacant churches, and that district committees should appoint council preachers were lost. The evening was occupied with a young Congregationalists' rally, when addresses were given by the Hevs. Aspland, Griffiths, and McXaughtoii,
