Consequently diplomatic relations have been ruptured. The United States cruiser Chicago has been despatched from Han Francisco, and the cruiser Yorktown wil follow. Efforts have also been initiated at the city of San Salvador, in the Republic of that name, to settle the diiHculty by arbitration, and it is hoped to avert a Central American war.
