Those present at the dinner given by tho Commonwealth Parliament at Menzies Hotel included Mr A. Deakin, Chief J ustice Madden, Mr Watson, and many representative men.

Sir J. Ward, in replying to Air Deakin’s toast of his health, dealt with tho proposals of the Colonial Conference. He .advocated continued support to the British Navy, a white Australia, .and the establishment of an Imperial Council.

Sir J. Ward has had an excellent reception, and lias been kept very busy here. He lift for Adelaide to-dav.

Mr Donkin, after conferring with Sir J. Ward on matters to come before the Imperial Conference, said he hoped they would bo able to work in combination in many respects. There wore questions which were geographically of closer importance to Now Zealand and .Australia than to other parts of the Empire, though most subjects for discussion were practically of equal importance to all self-governing colonies.
