The largest fire that tiro city has seen for many years gutted the Harr old Colton Company’s ironmongery warehouse covering an area of 70 lay 250 feet. The stock included a consignment of cartridges, and for a time at the height of the lire the cartridges kept up a hot fusihulo oil the buildings on the opposite side of the street, rendering the work of the firemen dangerous. Governor Le ] finite was early on the scene and placed his horse at the ftispokid of the firemen and rendered solid assistance in moving the engines and hose, The- damage is roughly estimated at ,-£75,000,
