Mr Morse’s adjustments for Wanganui Cup and Flying are duo on Kith instant. Tho dual wins at Paliiatua second day of -Mr Lambert with Makikihi, were well deserved. Old Prioress’ daughter has been racing very consistently of late. I understand Mr Lambert threw in for a good iyin in addition to tho stakes. After seeing tho Mahaki mare Mauira at Foxton, I wrote favourably of her appearance, and anticipated her doing better later. She won at Paliiatua second day and should lie heard of again, Jimmy Hathaway scored, a well deserved compensation with Rosegrove at Paliiatua after just missing at Poxton. Eangipul'.i’s sou is a very fair sort up to a mile.
Edgar Russell, of New Plymouth, had no reason to regret his somewhat long journey down to Paliiatua, capturing a double with Cvreue.
Although Mr Angus Keith, who has proved himself a very capable starter, went over to Paliiatua the second day of that recent fixture, he did not officiate, as was expected by many at tho 1 larrior. It is generally understood, however, ho will be appointed for this important position at future gatherings of tho Paliiatua E.O. Recent Wellington meeting is said to have given tote odds layers throughout tho colony one of the severest drubbings they have had for many years. Achilles (twice), Pink ’Liu (twice), and Mnujeet first day were sorted out by everybody in singles and doubles. That popular breeder, Mr G. F. Mooro is the most liberal patron of the Ashhurst Club for its next Guineas, He has nominated eight. Euroelydon, Sylvia Park, Day-star, Nestor, and his own sire Chasseur (by Cuirassier) are represented.
gsfi'hu.i the Me Ibounm Leader: —“ The sensational mare of the spring, Solution, is gradually being moved along by SI. Cannody in anticipation of recovering some of her lost prestige during the approaching autumn campaign. Although she iiad run into flesh during her interval of rest, Soult’s talented daughter has never lost her freshness, and is always anxious to show her former dash when {iuLhing her morning lessons down the straight. There can bo no manner of doubt that Solution would have .appeared to more advantage in the Caulfield and Melbourne Cups but for her record smashing gallops boro morning after morning, gho is cast-iron to have survived the campaign as she did. Cannody
is scarcely likely to adopt a system which brought such disaster, and on a comparatively light preparation, such as worn her the Metropolitan. Solution will in all probability retriev e her lost reputation in the near future,”
