SUPREME COURT.

Per Press Association. AVei.linoton, February d. lu charging the Grand Jury for the Supreme Court criminal sittings, which opened to-day, Judge Cooper expressed regret at the number of persons charged, and said that the character of many offences was exceptional. There were J 5 charges against 30 persons, invelvmg charges of practically' all the more serious offences known in the criminal code. There were offences against the person charged against 17 different persons, besides several offences of a sexual nature, and there was also a charge of murder against a Maori and a charge of manslaughter against two persons in the case in which the lire brigade motor engine killed Mrs Xensington ; two charges of assault and robbery; a charge ot shooting with intent; and the remainder were offences against property.
