ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.

Mr Charles tVixeey, whose lamentable drowning took place at; Castled iff on .Sunday last, was yesterday morning found on the beach within a, chain of where tho accident occurred. There was nothing to show that the deceased bad been seized by a shark, as had boon surmised. An inquest was held .yesterday afternoon, before 3lr it. L. Stanford, 8.31. Mr Thomas Wixccy identified the body as that of his late sou. Kavmond Richardson deposed that the deceased, ■ witness and others were bathing ou Sunday -alteriioon last. Deceased was wading near the shore, and suddenly disappeared. Efforts were made to find the body, but without ava.il. Constable Snow gave evidence as lo having found the body. At the inn nest to-day on tho body of Robert Wright, killed yesterday while cutting firewood at Mangatera, a, verdict of accidental death was returned. Masteuton, February 2. A young man named Henry Collins, .13 years of age, was severely hurt at Danioll s timber yard this morning, in stepping' from one stack of timber to another he full and the boards closing iu on him crushed Ids chest. Ho was conveyed to the hospital and was found to ho seriously crushed about the face and chest. Carte it tun, February 2. A young man, William Harrison, was loading a leant atlaehed lo a straw-laden wagon past a ir.e-noii engine when toe horses shied, and Harrison was knocked down, the wheels of the wagon passing over Ids body. He was removed to the hospital suffering from fracture of the pelvis and internal inim-ies.
