GREAT FIRE AT KEMPSAY.
Per Press Association.—Copyright. Svioaiv, January til. Fire destroyed nearly the whole of flic business part of Kempsey. The remainder of the town was saved by a couple of buildings being burnt to form a gap against tlie spivad nil tlie main conflagration. Tie' damage is estimated at between thirty and forty thousand pounds. The Kempsey lire started at the Chronicle oifice. Savage's large store.which was completely destroyed, was insured for iSIOOO in various offices. The National had a line of .i' ; 0o. SvnxF.v, February 1. Many persons at Kempsey have been rendered homeless. The absence of a wafer supply made it impossible i.o check the llames.
