Clomcnceau declares that the Bishops will get nothing but common law. A Scene in the Chamber. M. Clemci-ccau inadvertently tonfessed that the cour--.o Government had taken throughout tho religious difficulty was incqherent, but it, was not his fault. Thereupon M. Briand quitted the Chamber and threatened to resign. M. Clemenceau, in a later spcecn, amply apologised for tho slip made m the heat of debate and a reconciliation was elVected.
