' The Stock Market,

Dalgoty and Company, Ltd., report on their Feilding sale. There was a good entry of sheep and a small entry of cattle. Bid ding was brisk, especially for wethers and rape lambs, due no doubt to the elcome rains we have experienced the last week or so. We quote:—Two-tooth wethers 14s 7d to 15s, mixed two-tooths 12s 4d to 14s sd, aged owes 9s 7d to 11s Gd, woolly lambs 10s 7d, shorn rape lambs Us 2d to 9s Bd, ISmos heifers £l l2s Gd. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Lid., report on their Masterton sale:—All classes of sheep came forward, making a good yarding, and with the recent rains sales were -made freely, with the result that at the close of the day one small lot was unsold. Cattle came forward in fair average numbers, but wo regret to say met with a poor reception. Buyers were still slow to operate, the bulk of the sales being made privately. Sheep Stores, with shorn ewes and lambs, selling at 8s Gd, all counted; 2-tooth wethers all found purchasers at from 13s 9d to 14s 2d ; 2 and 4-tooth wethers 13s 3d ; one lot of young ewes made 14s 3d; aged ewes, 8 s Cd to 10s 3d ; cubs, 5s lOd to Gs; in mutton medium fat ewes brought 13s, lambs Gs 2d to 9s 3d. Cattle; 2 and 3-year steers, £2 15s to £3 15s; 2-year steers an d heifers, £2 5s to £2 7s ; forward cows 40s to 455; dairy cows GOs to 80s. Weaner pigs, 12s to 14s, Horses, gig and harness, £ls 10s, Messrs Abraham and Williams report : At Palmerston wo had a good yarding of sheep, very few cattle coming forward. We have to report a most successful sale. All sheep with the exception of a small pen of ewes changed hands at vendors prices. Recent rains had a beneficial effect ou prices. There was a good demand for rape lambs and sound mouth ewes. Quotations arc as follows; 6-tooth ewes 15s lid and 14s lOd, small mixed 6-tooth ewes 10s 6d. Cattle : 18 month heifers 28s, 15 month steer* 33s 6d, fat and forward cows £3 16s to £3. Hide and Skin Report. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report:— Owing to the wool sale taking place on the IStli inst., only green skins and hides were offered at our sale ou Saturday. We report as follows : —Hides ; Market firm, with slightly upward tendency. We quote :—Medium ox, Gsd to 6*d; light, Gd to 6id ; slippy ox, old; cows’ Gd to Old ; light, old to ojd ; calf skins, best 7d to 7Jd j medium, 6.1 <1 to 6;1; cut and slippy, old to Bid; goat skins, Is lid ; horse hides, lls. Sheep: North Island 4jd, best 4jd ; Elver Plate, heavy, 3RI, light 3'd. Beef, fores, 3d ; the rest unchanged. Hemp unchanged. Babbits flat for spot owing to the alumdance and cheapness of English, but a brisk forward trade and prospect of good business when English diminish. Wool sales firmest of the series. All classes show a hardening tendency. Following were the average prices realised for the fleece portions of the clips named: Xgatapa 12<d, E.S. over T. 12sd, Tenaiiioo 14jd, Eangitata 14jd, W.D. 14Jd. The quantity catalogued to date is 51,437, sold 49,336.

Dalgety and Company, Ltd., have received the following cables from London, dated the 17th instant Butter—Market weak. The Copenhagen official quotation is lower by 4 kroner (about 4s Gd per cwt). Utmost value, 100 s. The total imports of butter into the United Kingdom for the week ending the 12th instant amounted to 101,000 cwt as compared with 81,000 cwt for the corresponding week of 1906. Frozen Meat.—Australian lamb (prime) 3! ; lOlbs, lower by Id. Mutton (light weights) prices are firm, but for heavy are a shade easier. Beef, market weak, but prices are not quotably changed.

Tallow.—Prices for all sorts are unchanged. There is loss disposition to do business at previous rates —jiossibly tem porary —but speculators are doing all they can to spoil market.
