Heavy rain fell during the night and the going was on tho heavy side this morning. Cults sent Glenoulloch and Golden Cairn over four furlongs covered in 52bgc, finishing in order named, Prism did four furlongs in 52aoc, and Guidivilo had slightly the best of a gallop with Signalman over five furlongs in Imintsoo. Olanchattan did a good gallop over a mile run in liuin 44see, the last four furlongs taking 55seo. William was sent ten furlongs at half speed. Submarine covered ten furlongs at top. Do Witte jumping in at tho six furlong post. Tho full distance took 2iuiu ISsec, tho last four fur’ ■-* in oosec. Marguerite ran four fiuac--,- m 53sec. Achilles boat Gboorka very ca-.-V over a mile in Imin -losoo, the last tour furlongs in 52sec. Gold Crest beat Devouia over four furlongs in olsec, and Grand Circle boat Fascination over five furlongs in Imin Bsec. Blythemaid ran five furlongs in Imin 4sec. Ballarat ran four furloiigs in Discs, and Kcplc-te com_pleted a similar task in s?sed. Pearl Poof and Lamsdorf strode along over ten furlongs, coming bomo from tho four furlong post in 55seo,
On the fourth page will be found the programme of the Daunevirke Jockey Club’s annual meeting which will be held on the 6th and 7th March, 1907. Since the last annual race meeting the whole of the course has been thoroughly top-dressed and re-sown, and it now presents a splendid body of grass, and will compare favourably with any in the colony. The stakes offered total £I4OO. A number of loose-boxes have already been ordered by trainers and owners, and everything points to a most successful meeting. . The name of the mure Office Girl, entered in the Maiden Scurry at the Foxton Meeting, has been altered to Command, on account of the fornrer name being disallowed. At a committee meeting of the Mar : ton Jockey Club this week, the tender of Mr Alex. Ijfrowu, pf MgrtoUj was accepted for additions and alterations to the appointments at the Marton racecourse.’ The contract includes thp removal of all the appointments, enlarging the jockeys room to double its size, and erecting about eighteen stalls, The judge’s box will be shifted further, down the course, allowing another chain or so for finishing.
