BOWLING.

Per Press Association,

Chuistchobch, January 17. Tho Exhibition Bowling Tournament was continued in favourable weather to-

day. A slight rain early this morning detracted somewhat from the conditions of the different greens, but this defect was remedied shortly afterwards by the genial assistance of bright sunshine. A variety of matches engaged the attention of the different contestants —those comprising section winners, semi-finals, second and tnird sections place-takers, finals, and double-handed tournament. The lastnamed contest was spread over the Canterbury, United, St. Albans, Christchurch, Sydenham and Sunnyside greens, while j the rink games (and a number of double- j handed matches also) were played on \ Canterbury green. The section winners j continued the * last stages of the Ilink Championship, Dunedin (McLaren) defeat ing Christchurch (McDougall) by 21 to 19 after an exciting game, and St. Albans (Johnston) pulling the match against Hastings (Land) out of the lire on the last end. Kaituna (Payne) easily disposed of Thorndon (Leighton), and Taicri (Carswell) inflicted a severe drubbing upon Palmerston North (Nash). Kaituna y. Dunedin and St. Albans v. Taicri meet in tho semi-finals probably to-morrow, and it is hoped to play the final matches on Saturday. The "’general impression is that if Taieri (Carswell) is defeated at all the rink responsible for. its downfall will gain the championship. The Doubles Championship first prize is a trophy, value £1 4s, to each player and a framed certificate; second, trophy, value
