REPRESENTATION COMMISSION
Press Association. Cheistcuubcii, January 17. The Representation Commission opened its sittings for the South Island in the Provincial Hall this morning. The Commissioners are Messrs T. S. Weston (chairman), D. Barron (Chief Surveyor, Otago), E. C. Goldsmith (Chief Surveyor, Canterbury), G. J. Roberts (Chief Surveyor, Westland), and C. S. Reeves (Dunedin). Deputations attended from Toapeka, Hiecarton, Kaiapoi, Geraldine, and Wairau in support of objections previously notified to the Commission. The decisions of the Commission will be announced later. Wellington. January 17. The North Island Representation Commission sat to-day to consider objections against the proposed alteration of electoral boundaries. Bequests were received that the Wellington electorate should be so divided as to bring the south-eastern portion into South Wellington, and that Johnsonville, Ohariu, Makara and Tawa Flat should be retained in the Otaki electorate, and not included in Wellington.
