MARTON ATHLETIC CLUB.

Annual Meeting. Tire annual meeting of above was held at Marlon last evening, the Mayor (Mr J. F. Sicely) presiding. The report of committee recorded another successful season. The annual sports meeting was a decided success, a substantial credit being added to the Club’s funds, notwithstanding the increased prize-money, which totalled £B6 7s Cd. A credit balance of £3l 12s resulted from the concert. After donations to Borough Council (£1010s), Marlon Fire Brigade (£1 Is) and bonuses, a credit of £35 3s Od was left to start the fifth year with—a most satisfactory result. The thanks of the Club arc due to its numerous honorary officials, and also to its handicappcrs for the successful manner in which, they carried out their duties, alsp, to Miss Hardv and Miss Boss amTMr Bert Crozier for their assistance at the

concert. , The balance-sheet showed mat receipts from last sports and concert amounted to £149 8s 6d, and total expeudituro (including prize-money £B6 7s 6d) was £143 17s lid. The credit at bank is £35 3s 9d. The Chairman said the balance-sheet was very satisfactory, and with the now rapid advancement of the district and the completion of the Main Trunk railway, lie predicted a splendid future for the Club. Correspondence was received from Marion Borough Council and Fire Brigade acknowledging donations ; and from several members apologising for unavoidable absence from meeting. A. H. The membership fee was fixed at os. Messrs C. E. Gibbons, H. H, Hunt, A. Way, A. W. Woolley, W. L. Little, J. A. Pawson, and M. Marr were appointed a programme committee, and Messrs W. L. Little. E. Dunne, BCrozier, E. Jolly and A. Way, a concert committee. Mr A. H. Knigge was re-elected auditor and a vote of thanks accorded him for past services. A donation passed to the auditor was declined with thanks.

Mr A. Way was re-elected secretary and appreciation of his past work recorded. Mr W. L. Little paid a warm tribute to the untiring services given to the Club by Mr Way. The Club was fortunate in having such a capable and energetic otlicial. It was resolved that no bookmakers be allowed on the Sports ground. It was decided to alllliate with the New Zealand Athletic Union, and Mr A. Wav was elected delegate to the Association.
