FIRE ON THE MANUKA.

Tress Association —Cokyright. Sydney, January 11-

On Wednesday evening a iirc was discovered in No. 5 hold of the Manuka. A stewardess noticed heat coming from the ventilator, and firo was found iu a shipment of llax. IV a ter was poured into the hold till the cargo was covered, and by (5 o’clock on Thursday morning tho fire was extinguished. Water found its way into the mail room and wotted the mails and passengers’ luggage. No alarm was felt aboard.
