Christchurch Wool Sales
Keen Competition
Tor Press Association. Christchurch,' January 9. The third wool sale of tills season s series was hold at the Canterbury Hall to-day, when 15,569 hales were catalogued. There was a largo attendance of Home Continental, and local buyers, an d competition was exceptionally keen. The catalogue contained a good proportion of station clips, the merino being of better quality than that offered at pro vio a., -ales. All descriptions of hall-hrods were very firm, and prices, if anything, in advance of those ruling at the previous sale. There appeared to he no change in crossbreds, but merino sold better. Very few lots were passed and the sale concluded to-night. The range of prices were—Super merino 12d to 13f|d, medium 10k! to ll}d, inferior 9]<l to 10.1 d, quar-ter-bred 12d to U|d, super half-bred 13d to 15d, medium lid to 12jd, inferior 10d to IORI, Corriedaie 114 d to Hid, super tlu’oc-quarterhrod 12d to 13d, medium iO-ld to Hid, inferior 9id to 10|, super crossbred 12d to 12Id, medium lOd to lljd, inferior 9d to Hid, long wool Old to IGiJd, Shropshire lOd to 12d, merino pieces 8:Jcl to lUfil, first half bred pieces lOdto 13d, second do Sid to 9}d, first crossbred pieces Sd to lOd, second do Cd to 7id, locks 5d to 71 d. Tiie highest priced clip was that of T. Phillips, The Point, Rakaia, whoso merino sold up to 13:1 d, and half bred to 13d. Culvorclon merino made up to 13id. Gerald merino 13d, halfbrod Hid. Mt. Somers halfhred Hid, Comeback 14]d. Many lots of halfhred sold at 14d to Hid.
