Berlin, January 6: While several hundred navvies were working in a 25 feet deep railway cutting near Bingen, a serious collapse occurred and buried many of them. Fifteen dead bodies have already been recovered. The accident was due to a thaw and the too perpendicular sides of the cutting. Berlin, January 7.
Eighteen navvies at Bingen are still buried and rescue is hopeless. London, January 7.

Three hours after the seismograph at Baibach recorded a great submarine disturbance oh Friday, tremendous tidal waves visited the southern coast of Ceylon. The phenomena were similar to those following the eruption of Krakatoa in 1888.
